Just 10 runners will line up for the 2014 Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) at Royal Randwick this weekend after Anthony Cummings-trained Zizumba was removed from the final field to chase success in different events.
While yet to contest a competitive race starts, two-year-old colt Kaepernick currently leads betting markets for the 2014 Kindergarten Stakes at a quote of $4.50, ahead of Donelle ($5.50), Redoutable Heart and I Am Snippety; sharing the third line of betting at $7.50 odds.
Will Kaepernick justify favouritism and win the 2014 Kindergarten Stakes on debut, or will one of his more experienced opponents find the line in the clear?
I Am Snippety ($7.50)
Securing two wins and one place from six race starts to date, I Am Snippety will line up for the 2014 Kindergarten Stakes as undeniably the most consistent runner, and offers punters sensational value for money at $7.50 odds. Debuting with a strong turn of foot to finish second in the TAB Rewards Plate F Maiden (1000m) on December 11th, the talented I Am Invincible filly has hit career-best form over her last two start; finishing fourth amongst classy company in the Listed Black Opal Stakes (1200m) on March 9th before strolling home to win the Boot Handicap (1100m) in New Zealand by nearly seven lengths last time out. While needing to overcome the wide barrier 11, I Am Snippety will be partnered by regular jockey Winona Costin.
Finishing a strong second in the Inglis Banner Maiden (1000m) on debut ahead of a classy field that included Boomwaa and Cornrow on October 26th, Donelle has returned to the track in good form this preparation, finishing an unlucky sixth when blocked for a run in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) before producing a good turn of foot to finish fourth in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) last time out. Allocated the ideal barrier 4 for the 2014 Kindergarten Stakes, Donelle will be partnered by veteran jockey Jim Cassidy.
Yet to finish outside the places in four race starts to date, Klammer offers punters exceptional value at $9 for a win in the 2014 Kindergarten Stakes, or $2.95 for a place. Finishing third behind Law in the Adaptra Handicap (1000m) on debut in February, the consistent Snitzel colt broke through for a maiden race win amongst strong company in the Lightning Ridge Plate (1000m), finishing third in both the Listed Black Opal Stakes and Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) most recently. Allocated the relatively wide barrier 9, Klammer has displayed a knack of overcoming a poor draw in two of his four race starts so far, and will be partnered by regular jockey Jason Parr.
